Screenings

Due to the critical nature of the film’s topic, we recommend that it be shown in a group or public audience context, followed immediately by a discussion about the Great Unraveling towards a Great Turning.  The discussion can include what can be done within the viewing audience’s community.  Community discussions can be a turning point for addressing these issues.

Discussion Guide:

The Centre for Local Prosperity can provide a Discussion Guide with background, facilitation suggestions and potential questions for use in a group discussion after a screening of the documentary film.

Donations:

The Centre relies on donations for the production of its documentary films.  For this reason, we ask that you consider making a donation for a group or public screening of this film.  We do not have a fixed screening fee.  Depending on the nature of your organization (i.e. non-profit, educational, government), we suggest between $40 and $250 per screening.  Donations can be made here.  The Centre can provide a tax receipt to Canadian-based donors.

Speakers:

The Centre may be able to coordinate speakers from its staff or from the attendees of this Thinkers Reunion to attend your screening and facilitate a conversation.  A speaker’s fee may be requested.

Teachers Resource:

One of the predominate features of this film are the thoughts expressed by youth, about how they tend to not be heard by adults when expressing their concerns about the fragility of our times. Towards the end of the film, a taking circle is held between youth and an Indigenous Elder so that they can speak from the heart. For this reason, the film is especially applicable in educational settings, from elementary grades through to college and university audiences.

Some of the themes in this film include:

  • Fully understanding our human situation creates a sense of vulnerability and fear.  Facing the truth can be the hardest part, but can then translate into effective means for psychological resilience and action.
  • For youth, are our voices being heard and how can they have greater impact?
  • A deep relationship with nature is essential in these times, not only as a way to reduce stress but as a return to a sacred balanced outlook towards our source of life.
  • A return to localized food systems has a restorative effect on ourselves, our society, our culture and nature.
  • Activism can be effectively used as a holding action against further destruction. A warrior is defined as one who restores balance.
  • Now is the time to understand new ways forward for humanity, and to begin to plant the seeds for these new ways in our work.
